You will be a core member of the Von Ardenne North America Service Team to provide world-class service to customers for our sophisticated vacuum coating equipment. The role is based and located in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Taking responsibility together
  • Worldwide commissioning and service of technical and/or technological assemblies, components, and systems
  • Analysis, processing, and solution of problems on VA systems and components
  • Processing of customer inquiries via ticket system incl. solution mediation to the customer
  • Responsible for his scope of tasks accordingly result-oriented with comprehensible documentation
  • Carries out training at the customer's site for all components with the help of own documents
  • Independent further training in subject-specific topics, to stabilize and further develop technical knowledge
  • Maintains customer relationships
  • Active support of the preparation of assembly and commissioning manuals
  • Support of design and concept development based on feedback from projects
  • Makes decisions independently within the defined framework and is responsible for them.
  • Escalations are processed and passed on with qualified solution approaches if the solution cannot be found by oneself, participation in finding a solution and implementing them
  • Independent preparation, execution of customer service assignments incl. documentation and evaluation
  • Active participation in the release of components and systems for use
  • Responsible for customer service calls
  • May travel up to 50%
Contribute own competencies
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Solid understanding of the interactions between mechanical, electrical components and peripherals
  • Knowledge in controls engineering techniques and practices which would be required for global customer facilities.
  • Proven understanding, knowledge and ability to trouble shoot electrical/electronic control systems.
  • Understanding of Rockwell Automation Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)including PanelView Plus, PanelView Plus CE, and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
  • Understanding of Siemens S7 / TIA Portal PLC’s, including ladder and statement list logic
  • Basic understanding of corporate Ethernet architectures and systems.
  • Practices articulate communication skills in team-oriented work to be successful among high-tech firms, diversified industries, and international environments.
  • Support of installation and commissioning activities with the ability to travel to work at customer sites; primarily domestic (North America), but some international travel possible.
  • Maintains valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport

Our first meeting usually takes place as an online meeting. In this initial exchange, you and your future manager will get to know each other. During the interview, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the position and the company.

During a personal interview on site, you will learn more about our location and your future workplace. In this in-depth exchange, we discuss all the requirements and framework conditions for the job. Of course, we will also answer all your questions.

Note: If you apply for one of our apprenticeships, an aptitude test will follow at this point.

Onboarding

We want your start at VON ARDENNE to be successful from the very beginning.

In our onboarding program, you will receive a comprehensive overview of our company in addition to your professional induction.

As part of the contract handover, you will receive a checklist to prepare your start at VON ARDENNE. We will also provide you with the access data for your employee account, which you can already use from the comfort of your own home. Here you can prepare for your first day at work, e.g. upload a photo for your employee ID card.

The first working day starts together for all new employees. At interdepartmental informational events, you will get an overview of the company and can make initial contacts. You will also receive your technical equipment on your first day of work.

Now the technical training starts. During the initial period, your individual on-the-job training plan will provide you with an orientation on all subject areas and the relevant contact persons. If you have any questions or need help, your manager and the team are always available to advise you. In addition, we offer a variety of formats for networking and knowledge sharing.

In the course of joint discussions, we provide mutual feedback regarding your entry into the company. Even after your onboarding, we remain in constant communication. In our annual development meetings, we regularly talk about your career prospects and additional development steps at VON ARDENNE.
